Stephen Bly & Janet Bly

American husband and wife Christian authors.

Stephen Bly was born in 1944 in Ivanhoe, California and grew up on a farm. He studied philosophy for his first degree and also has a Masters in Divinity. As well as writing, he has worked as a rancher, an editor, in politics, as Mayor of Winchester, Idaho and is a pastor. He is a prolific author, who has written over 100 books for both adults and children, some award-winning. Most of his books are of the 'Western' persuasion and many are historical. He researches the areas he writes about carefully by actually visiting them. He has also co-authored a number of books with his wife Janet.

Janet received a degree in Literature, Languages and Fine & Performing Arts. She is also an author, as well as spending a lot of time speaking at various conferences, women's retreats and family seminars. Stephen and Janet met at high school. They married and had three sons, and now live high up in the mountains of Idaho.

Although many of the general Western titles include horses, the pair wrote two more specifically horse-themed series: the adult
Horse Dreams Series, written by Stephen alone, and the Crystal Blake Series , which is for children, written by both Stephen and Janet. Another book, Dangerous Ride, which is part of one of Stephen's Western series also features horses quite a lot as it is a story about the Pony Express. I have included it below.

The pair have their own website.
